How does it work?

Very simple: On this website, you automatically generate WireGuard VPN keys via JavaScript inside of your browser. After selecting a country and the validity of your connection, click Pay to see payment options. You can pay instantly with a Bitcoin Lightning wallet (like Phoenix or BlueWallet) by scanning the QR code, or choose other cryptocurrencies like Monero, USDT/USDC or most other altcoins. After successful payment confirmation, the website presents a new QR code and the message PAID. Scan it with the WireGuard App on Android or iOS. On your PC or Mac, download the WireGuard config file.

What services did you use to build this, which VPN service do you use?

We use LDK for our Lightning integration. On the VPN endpoints, we don't use a commercial VPN service. We have our own servers in each country for each endpoint. nadanada uses the Wireguard open source VPN protocol.

What data do you store about your users? How anonymous is this? What privacy do you offer?

On the nadanada.me website, we don't use cookies and we only store the first half of your IP address in our webserver logs. For example, the IP 1.12.123.234 would be stored as 1.12.0.0. We delete the webserver logfiles after 7 days. On the VPN endpoints, we store your WireGuard public key, the PSK, and the total amount of bandwidth you used. While you're connected to our VPN, the endpoint temporarily keeps your IP address in memory to maintain the connection. If there's no activity for 5 minutes, the IP address is automatically deleted. We never store it on any disk or permanent storage. We prioritize privacy-enhancing payments like Bitcoin Lightning and Monero.

After purchasing an eSIM plan, you will receive a QR code or activation code. Go to your device's cellular settings, select 'Add Cellular Plan' (or similar), then scan the QR code or enter the activation code. You can install the eSIM from anywhere, but your data bundle will only activate once you connect to a supported mobile network in the bundle's designated country or region. Tip: install the eSIM while you still have Wi-Fi or your home mobile data - the activation step itself needs an internet connection.

If you're having issues with your internet connection, check if all your settings are set up correctly. Make sure that Data Roaming is turned on under settings. To update the Access Point Name (APN): Go to Settings > Network & Internet section > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, click '+' or 'ADD', enter the new APN settings (data.esim), and hit 'Save'.

Can't connect my eSIM on iOS/iPhone

If you're having connectivity issues with your eSIM on iOS, make sure you have completed all the steps to access data as per the instructions given on your eSIM app/website. Go to Settings > Cellular/Mobile, click on your eSIM under Cellular Plans, navigate to Network Selection and disable Automatic, then select the correct network. Alternatively, try updating your APN settings and check if your data roaming is turned on.

However, if you want to check or manually configure the APN: iOS: Go to Settings > Mobile/Cellular Data > select your eSIM > Mobile/Cellular Data Network > type 'data.esim' in the APN field. Android: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > enter 'data.esim'.

When does my data bundle start and expire?

Your data bundle starts when you first connect to a supported network in the assigned country or region. From that moment, its validity period (for example 30 days) begins to count down, and the bundle expires when either the data or the time period runs out - whichever comes first. There is no separate activation deadline: unused bundles stay on your eSIM until you use them. Your eSIM itself will expire after 6 months of no connection to any supported network.

If you do not connect to a supported network within this period, the eSIM will expire and you will need to purchase a new one. Every time you connect to a mobile network, the eSIM will be valid for another 6 months from that date. You can top-up your eSIM at any time.

Data bundles work consecutively, not concurrently. When you add a top-up/new bundle to your existing eSIM: Your current bundle continues to run until it expires (either when you run out of data OR when the time period ends, whichever comes first). The new bundle automatically activates once your current bundle expires. You do NOT lose any remaining days or data from your current bundle. Multiple bundles queue up and activate one after another.
