APN stands for Access Point Name. It is a short text setting that tells your phone which gateway to use between the mobile network and the internet. If it is wrong or missing, your phone can show full signal bars while nothing loads, because the network does not know where to route your data.

What APN do nadanada eSIMs use?

data.esim. Every nadanada eSIM uses this same APN in every country. It is normally configured automatically when you install the eSIM; you only need to enter it by hand if you have signal but no internet.

Where do I find APN settings on iPhone?

Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Data) > tap your eSIM line > Cellular Data Network (on some versions: Mobile Data Network). Type the APN into the top field under Cellular Data, leave username and password empty, then go back to save.

Where do I find APN settings on Android?

Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > tap your eSIM > Access Point Names, then the + button to add a new APN. On Samsung: Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names. Enter a name and the APN, save, select it, and restart the phone.

Why is the APN option missing or greyed out on my phone?

Three common reasons: the wrong SIM is selected (each line has its own APN screen), the phone is carrier-locked and the carrier blocks APN editing, or on iPhone the installed carrier profile manages the APN automatically and hides the menu. Check the line selection first; it is the most common mistake.

Do I need to fill in username, password, MMS or the other fields?

No. For a data eSIM, only the APN field matters. Leave username, password, MMSC, proxy and every other field empty unless your provider explicitly says otherwise. Wrong values in those fields cause more problems than they solve.

I set the APN and still have no internet. Now what?

How to Set or Change Your APN (iPhone & Android, 2026)

Full signal bars, but nothing loads. If that is where you are, there is a good chance one small text setting fixes it: the APN. This takes about a minute and you cannot really break anything.

What an APN is, in one paragraph

APN stands for Access Point Name. Think of it as the address of the doorway between the mobile network and the internet. Your phone can be connected to the network (that is the signal bars) but still not know which doorway to send your data through. Setting the APN tells it. Most of the time your eSIM configures this automatically during installation, but some phones, especially Androids, occasionally miss it.

For nadanada eSIMs, the APN is always:

data.esim

The same value works in every country. If you bought your eSIM elsewhere, the correct APN is on that provider's confirmation page.

Set the APN on iPhone

Open Settings > Cellular (called Mobile Data in some regions)
Tap your eSIM line (not your home SIM)
Tap Cellular Data Network (or Mobile Data Network)
In the top section labeled Cellular Data, type the APN: data.esim
Leave Username and Password empty
Go back one screen. iPhone saves automatically
Turn Airplane Mode on for ten seconds, then off

Set the APN on Android

The menu location varies a little by brand:

Google Pixel: Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > tap the eSIM > Access Point Names
Samsung: Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Access Point Names
Xiaomi/Redmi: Settings > SIM cards & mobile networks > tap the eSIM > Access Point Names
Oppo/OnePlus: Settings > Mobile network > tap the eSIM > Access Point Names

If in doubt, type "APN" into the search bar at the top of Settings.

Then:

Make sure the eSIM is the selected line at the top of the screen, not your home SIM
Tap + (or Add) to create a new APN
Name: anything you like, for example "nadanada"
APN: data.esim
Leave every other field exactly as it is
Tap the menu (three dots) and Save
Back on the APN list, select the new entry so its radio button is filled
Restart the phone

The restart matters on Android. Plenty of "the APN didn't work" cases are really "the phone never reloaded the APN."

The three mistakes that trip people up

Editing the wrong line. Each SIM has its own APN screen. If you edit your home SIM's APN, nothing changes for the eSIM (and you might break your home data). Double-check which line is selected before typing.
Filling in extra fields. Username, password, proxy, MMSC: leave them all empty for a data eSIM. Only the APN field matters.
Skipping the restart. Toggling airplane mode is enough on iPhone, but on Android a full restart is the reliable way to load a new APN.
